Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and very funny. It was very interesting to see how the Vanderbilt's lived and to hear the story about their fortune. Unfortunately it was winter and the gardens were dormant. Would like to visit again in Spring. There is a nice gift store, but no food or beverages. The grounds are beautiful, bring a... 更多

I enjoyed each minute I spent here. The house is beautiful and the presentation is immaculate. We're lucky that after Vanderbilt died in 1938 the house lay empty (although full furnished) until FDR purchased it for the park service at the incredible sum of $1. We spent about two and a half hours on the grounds in late December. I... 更多

Although a somewhat 'smaller' home than some of the larger Vanderbilt mansions (this is a summer home), this one is a must see. The home is filled with its original furnishings which adds to the awesomeness of this place. Tour guide was very informative and if you hold a National Parks membership, this tour is included. You can also purchase... 更多

We visited the Vanderbilt Mansion on a rainy day in October. The guide that we had was very good which kept the tour interesting. We have visited several other Vanderbilt mansions throughout the country and this is one of the smaller and least extravagant. That being said, what one was able to see on the tour was very enjoyable and... 更多

This historic mansion is part of our US National Park Service and is a very important part of our history as it depicts how the very American wealthy lived before there was income taxes and property taxes. This mansion is preserved as it would have been back when Fredrick Vanderbilt lived. It contains most of the original furniture and art... 更多

Lots of talk about halves and have nots; this is a real historical view of the gilded age and how they lived. Great historical insight, completely preserved estate is a gem. Our National Park Service guide was outstanding (nice tour Mike!) You'll see the real living quarters in this "spring and fall cottage" of the Vanderbilt's and a view to... 更多

I went on December 4, it was free today with cider and cookies in the visitors center, freshly decorated for Christmas. It was an open house. The mansion was undergoing renovations. We were allowed in in groups. people were scattered around the mansion to answer questions. highly recommended great to learn of the gilded age and is a great family... 更多

An amazing view into the Vanderbilt's and the gilded age. You cannot see the entire mansion, but you get a nice glimpse of life as it was. Take note of the "globes" on either side of the dining room. there are only 7 like this know on the world. Your guide should explain this in more detail to you.

Visited with our family group of 10. Perfect mix of structured and unstructured tour. The mansion is really something to see and not to missed. Allow an hour to 90 minutes.

Well I felt under dressed! In the day I'm sure I would have been denied entry. Our very pleasant & well informed docent told us this was "casual" Vanderbilt entertaining women would only be expected to change clothes only 6 times a day! The visitors center that the tour begins at was built for the sole purpose so that the... 更多
