Great location near the Art Museum, Franklin Institute, Academy of Natural Sciences, Water Works Museum,The Barnes Foundation, Free Library of Philadelphia-Parkway. A beautiful area to relax, exercise, rent a bike,eat, listen to the birds, see the flowers, shrubs, and water works. Free public area, free and paid parking areas.
The Kelly Drive is absolutely beautiful...dotted with famous sculpture, and historical Boathouses, with often visible, multiple sculls traversing the river....Also, check it out at night when the Boathouses are all lit up....absolutely cool!

We took a bike ride along Kelly Drive using the indigo bikes we picked up at the art museum. For two people to rent a bike it was 8 dollars. My daughter said it was the most fun thing she did in Philadelphia that weekend.
Kelly Drive runs along side the Schuylkill River. There is over 30 miles of bike/jogging/walking paths. There are grassy locations along the side of the road to sit and relax or have a picnic. I actually drive through here several days a week for work and it always soothes my soul. It is beautiful year round- just stop and enjoy the scenery if you can.
