I believe you have to take the gondola up to the interpretive center. Once you are up there you can have lunch and buy souvenirs. The food is very expensive up here especially for what it is. There was face painting and also a little snow which we played in too.
Took the gondola all the way to the top after a couple of bus rides from town, and it was definitely worth it. The views were pretty impressive and the informative panels out on the mountain were really good. Found the cafe pretty lacking but then realized that it was quite late in the afternoon, so made do with a... 更多
Cost about $90 for four of us to ride the gondola. Ride was scenic and generally enjoyable. Once we got to the top, we were expecting to be able to look down into the valley to see lakes and more picturesque angles of the mountains. In reality, we got better photos at lower elevations. The Interpretive Center was underwhelming, as... 更多
The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful to explain more detail to the curious. The cafe at the top was quite good for a late lunch. Hike around the Interpretive Center and take in the 360 views.
Gondola ride is inspiring and it leads right to the top of mammoth mountain! From the top you can see everything from the minarets to the lakes basin!
The peaceful gondola ride to Mammoth summit gives you stunning 360 degree views. It's best on a day with little wind so you can walk along the ridge both North and South. Great for photography and fresh air and a sense of nature's enormity. Good for families and for older people too. We packed a snack and sat inside while... 更多
We took a Gondola ride to the top and visited the interpretive centre, there were some very knowledgeable staff (volunteers?) in the centre who were able to tell us about the area and some of the native animals. Interactive displays as well. Take your camera as there's some amazing views.
Had a "ski rest day" so took the kids on the gondola to the "Top of the Sierra" and it was great. Take the camera, wonderful photo opportunities up here.
This is our 36 season in Mammoth and this is the first time I have been to the interpretive center since it open with the cafe. We were here for my daughters wedding and the views and information are awesome! It gives you a whole new perspective of the Sierras.
