Not many know that across the river next to the Carillon Park is Calvary Cemetery. There were archeological findings in the early 1900's of an Indian Mound and a long earthen wall overlooking the steep cliffs on the Carillon Park side of the cemetery. Read book here: https://archive.org/stream/introductiontoge00foerrich#page/n21/mode/2up In addition-there is a promotory point overlooking the river which is not... 更多
A perfect outside day trip for kids and adults. It lets you put yourself back in time and learn about folks who were here long ago. Even though it's historical it's very kid friendly. They can touch stuff.
My sister and I visited this attraction on a weekday and had the entire place to ourselves. It is a short drive from Dayton and very easily accessible. We started with the 12-minute movie about the Native Americans that lived here 800 years ago, and then walked outside to see the restored Native American village and finished inside with the... 更多
Both kids and adults can find things to enjoy at this park. This provides a good introduction to local Native American history. Keep an eye out for special events such as powwows- these are a really good way to learn about indigenous cultures.
Nice little museum on local indian culture. A 12 min film starts you off, and there is a Johnny Appleseed exhibit on the upper floor. Happened to be there during a Pow-Wow... a bit of a lackluster event, but it was still nice to see the museums artifacts instead. There is an old Indian "village" behind the building, and that's... 更多
I enjoyed visiting here, and seeing the village. They also have a small exhibit inside which is nice on hot summer days. We came on a day they had a Pow Wow and got to see Native Americans dance and sing. We loved coming here it was very relaxing and the staff was very friendly. Great place to teach children... 更多
This museum is a great example of historical recreation of a native american village. It is very well done and brings the culture and complexity of the area's Fort Ancient people to life in a way that a book or video alone can not. This is a small but excellent museum.
It was nice lesson of the Indian's history, their culture and their daily living. It's all there! It's not a big place, but it's kept in good shape. Very nice displays on outside along with the vegetation common for Indians living there many years ago. I recommend this place. RomanP
We arrived at Sunwatch at around 3pm and were the only ones there at the time. I was thoroughly impressed! Nice little museum with a good collection of the artifacts recovered at the site. The site itself contains a partial reconstruction of the Village that existed there centuries ago. Good signage explaining what was there. This is a great place... 更多
