I visited the Olivas Adobe in December for their evening Christmas Recreation Tour. Lead be knowledgeable docents, this was a look into the past of one of California's historical families and traditions. Learning about the Olivas family and what they contributed to the Ventura area was amazing. Their souls and heritage live on in this memorable home and landscape. The... 更多
I was expecting more. I know it is old, but the grounds had no landscaping whatsoever, just dirt. Could see in past photos there used to be a lawn and gardens...not now.
Great concerts, bring your own picnic food and drinks or purchase onsite under the stars every Saturday from mid July to Labor Day weekend. Very reasonable prices.
A visit here allows you to step back in time and learn something about the history of the region and one of its first families. It's near the Channel Islands Natl. Park Visitors Center, so we visited both in one morning.
I've been to Olivas Adobe before, but decided to take the family. The buildings themselves are closed Monday-Friday, but you can walk in and around them, and peer in the windows, for free. There are some signs that are informative, but could and should be upgraded. On weekends they offer docent led tours that cost $5.00 (I think). I'm glad... 更多
This is definitely a place to visit - if you want to see what Old California was like. Check to see if one of their special events or evening concerts will be occurring while you're in the area. Fun! They also have inter-active hands-on displays for youth on occasions - AND that is a definite experience!
I really enjoy this quaint place. It's a nice, peaceful stroll around the grounds but the ROSE GARDEN, that's amazing! I've never seen such a huge variety in one place and they are absolutely spectacular!
This is a unique piece of California's history, with beautiful gardens on the grounds, tours and exhibits, talks, and historical shows. A fun day for the art lover if you want to unwind go at your own pace. The natural setting has rare feathered friends regularly.
I really do love historical sites; and while this is one, I was a little disappointed. Maybe because I was expecting more: I don't know. Rooms in the adobe are decorated with original items. There is a 'walk-around' historical museum to visit also on the property. I would advise going there first. The best thing is that come July, they... 更多
We took the tour of the house before one of the summer concert series. This is a wonderful piece of local history and the docents have a good sense of humor. The building has been damaged by earthquakes and there are cracks in the walls but it is a bit of Ventura History...
