They have a wide selection of items for whatever fandom strikes your fancy, including an impressive collection of independently published comics and hard to find videos. Their staff is generally friendly and helpful. The store is conveniently located near The Stroud and Union Square.
So, I'm kind of a giant nerd and everywhere I go I seek out good nerd shops. Forbidden Planet is pretty awesome and I'm very glad I stopped in. The selection is eclectic with lots of things you won't see anywhere else (and of course the standard game/comic shop stuff as well). If I were a local I don't know... 更多
I have been visiting The Forbidden Planet for over 25 years- both in their previous location down the block and in their new location nearby. It is an awesome store-- to browse and shop and to revisit pop favorites from the past. Great selection of books, Dr. Who merchandise (my personal favorite) and hard to find Japanese import figures. Walking by towards Union Square and stopped in for a look see, huge selection of books, comics, dvds, and toys, a collectors paradise, only negative the staff could have been a little more friendlier.
Husband and son are superhero fans. They enjoyed looking at the store but didn't find anything in particular. My daughter and I thought it was interesting but were done in 5 minutes. Since it's right next to the Strand, we didn't mind stopping in.
Sheldon would approve I think. Very nice array of serious comics- good tshirts selection and collectibles for all price points - buttons - bobble heads - jello and ice cube molds. The cutting board was funny. Really funny Star Trek aprons - my husband came here from queens as s teen. Wish they had chairs and pinball.
Here's the deal. The prices are obscenely high compared to other stores around the city. You are better off purchasing online or at one of the other great options around town. In addition, their customer service is absolutely dreadful. I walked into this store for the first time two days ago. I surveyed the store until I settled on two... 更多
My 14 year old son loves anime. After reading reviews, we knew this was one stop we had to make on our visit to NYC. He was thrilled! Since they had much more than anime items, we were able to find a few gifts here as well. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I'm sure we'll return!
Usually mingle in midtown, hence, gravitated to that comic store. This is a change of scenery for us. Love it don't have to climb those stairs... Anyhow, a lot of products, a lot of rare products too! it was cool.
