It is a small theater, about 160 seats, which were reasonably comfortable, with a good rise, so that everyone could see well and not bang your knees on the seat in front. We sat in the third row by the wall, and could see well. There is a balcony. The stage was large, with room for adequate scenery and 4... 更多
Not only is this intimate contemporary theatre an architectural gem but it also has such a wonderful mission ("Irish Drama"). We were so fortunate to see "Quietly" -- a great performance in a perfect setting. A bonus: the tickets were so reasonably priced compared to Broadway -- it's a great destination for the serious theatre-goer.
We went to see the Irish Repertory Theater's production of "Finin's Rainbow". The play itself is interesting, dealing with topics that were very controversial when it was first produced on Broadway. The songs are beautiful, full with music and lyrics that have become standards over the years. "Look to the Rainbow", "How are Things in Glacamora", "That Old Devil Moon"... 更多
Have been a patron for two years. The productions are very entertaining, very professional. The theater is small enough so that no seat is a bad one.
We just saw Quietly at this Theatre, and the play and actors were absolutely superb. Can not say enough about them, or this play. Was a truly moving experience. We saw Book of Mormon the night before, and I think this play was my favorite of the weekend. If I lived closer, I would see it again. Standing Ovation!
We attended a matinee performance of QUIETLY, in a production from Dublin's Abbey Theatre, at the newly renovated Irish Repertory Theatre on West 22nd Street. Amazing performance! Wonderful theatre space! Our tickets were improved at the box office by none other than the beautiful artistic director, Charlotte Moore. We can't wait to return.
The Irish Rep is one of our favorite off Broadway houses; we have seen over 12 plays and readings here in the past three years since we discovered it, ranging from good to outstanding. The theatre lives up to its purpose: "The Irish Repertory Theatre stages the works of Irish and Irish-American classic and contemporary playwrights, encourages the development of... 更多
The theater has just reopened following renovations. It's small and intimate, fresh productions, much more affordable than Broadway (think Hamilton) and an all around fun experience. "Shining City" gave us a lot to think about.
The Irish Repertory Theater is currently using the DR2 Theater on 15th near Union Square while its own space is being renovated. The play we saw is "The Belle of Belfast", written by an American with Choctaw roots but with a real sense of Irishness. The five actors did a great job. We had a fine time.
