The park is small and unremarkable at first glance and unsuspecting visitors may not be aware of its historic significance until they read about it, particularly its designation as the oldest park in the city and how it became a symbol of US independence from Britain after the existing statue of the British monarch was toppled. Bowling Green, for a visitor, is the area between Battery Park and Wall Street/World Trade Center. It's home to some fantastic architecture, mostly of the Beaux-Arts variety, and the famous Charging Bull.
I had a chance to visit Bowling Green Park during the day in nice weather. Area is very clean, and it's a really vibrant garden; swathe of green grass; and fountain.
