I've been wanting to check out the Morris-Jumel mansion for some time and finally made the trip. I would heavily advise taking public transportation unless you live close by because parking is very difficult. The house itself is a cool site to see as you're walking up the cobblestone street, one of the few remaining buildings of colonial New York.... 更多

Had no idea this place existed, but were trying to fill a morning and fancied taking a look at a different part of Manhattan. There was a tiny picture in our guidebook which caught our attention. What a find! I loved the fact that it was a bit faded and that there was little visible modernisation anywhere. You really did... 更多

The Morris-Jumel Mansion is the oldest "colonial" house in New York City (1765). It is in a very interesting neighborhood - you must see Sylvan Terrace. The tour is self guided - 3 floors - not a lot to see but interesting history - including George Washington's headquarters and home to Aaron Burr.

I found this house a bit more interesting than Hamilton's Grange. All 3 floors of the house were open. Although a couple of the rooms were sparse on furniture, several had quite a bit. Interesting facts were provided by one of the employees. He was quite knowledge. Seemed to really enjoy sharing stories about the house. 4 people were know... 更多

I went to see a play at the mansion and had no idea what to expect. I had never even heard of this place nor did I know any of the background on it. But I went with an open mind and had the most enjoyable experience! The staff was so friendly and more then willing to share the history... 更多

Some of the rooms were empty, but the ones that were filled/decorated were nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, though. I only went because I was going to the Hispanice Society of America.

This is the last remaining Colonial structure and oldest home in Manhattan. It won't take you too long to go thru it,, but it's worth seeing. There is still a lot of restoration that needs to take place. The structure is lovely and the octagon addition unique. There are one or two furnished rooms upstairs, one on the main floor... 更多

Hidden in Harlem, this is one of the unexpected surprises you might find in NYC if you don't only look for the conventional tourist trip. Everyone of the staff is super friendly and helpful. The guide that gives the tour of the mansion is well prepared and ready to answer your questions. This was my 3rd time visiting, right now... 更多

What an incredible piece of history! I've wanted to visit for many years, and was a little surprised by how shabby the place is, clearly screaming for TLC--got the impression perhaps it's about to get a renovation? At any rate, it's old--I get that. As a huge colonial history buff, I've visited many similar historic sites, from Sylvester Manor on... 更多

This is the oldest existing house in Manhattan and was built by British Colonel Roger Morris in 1765. It is located in Roger Morris Park and is at the highest point in Washington Heights. George Washington used the house as a headquarters since a view of the entire island could be seen from there. It was host to a tavern... 更多
