This is a Visitor Center where the people were extremely helpful and friendly and provided maps and advice for visiting Balboa Park. There are rest rooms and a good starting point for visiting the park.
This would have been a great place to start however we came from the zoo - so it ended up being the last place. I'd definitely recommend starting here since the park is so big and it can really help narrow down what you want to see.
There is far too much to see and do for a quick day visit to Coronado. Stopping by here first-thing in the morning provided a literal walking map, quick discussion of a plan of attack, and even a list of what's happening that particular day/weekend. The ladies in there really know their stuff, are very friendly, but also get you...
The best way to start your time in Balboa Park is with a stop at the Balboa Park Visitors Center located across from the Prado Restaurant in the Hose of Hospitality. The center offers brochures, maps, audio tours, free guided tour of the Park, transportation information, dining advice and more.
