We dined here before a play at the Old Globe Theater. Outdoor seating was idyllic, and the wait staff was efficient and attentive. We chose some creatively named cocktails. The starters we shared had excellent seafood. Entrees were also very good. I would have been happy to stay at the table for hours.
If you try to get into the dining room for lunch you will likely need to wait for 30 minutes or more. No problem; just go into the bar area to the right where there are almost always tables because they don't suggest this option. Much better anyway; the small plates are fabulous. We have also had dinner at El... 更多
The first weekend in December (Friday-Sunday) the decorations are put up and most of the museums are free of charge. We enjoy visiting the International Village and tasting all the different cuisines from the country's that have a visitor area.
This restaurant was recommended by friends and Fodor's. It's in the middle of Balboa Park, in the museum row, on a great location, benefiting from a patio overlooking a luxuriant garden. The dishes we ordered sounded promising, but they turned out banal. An unexpected disappointment was the paella, which looked like bouillabaisse with rice thrown in it (and we all... 更多
Bearing the heat and sitting on the patio is well worth the wait and heat. With amazing views of Balboa park this restaurant pleases the eyes more than the stomach. The food is standard with nothing too special, but that view! With the Go San Diego card you also get $10 off a bill more than $40. So keep that... 更多
El Prado is our favorite place in Balboa Park to enjoy a light snack and glass of wine. We usually sit in the outdoor patio, which has lovely surroundings and is within earshot of the organ pavilion.
The Prado restaurant is here as well as a good coffee bar. I enjoyed the architecture, visiting the visitors center, and watching the people going to and from.
El Prado hosts a variety of flowering plants and palm trees. It is located within Balboa Park, which on it's own, is an amazing place to visit. Good spot to hang out and to appreciate, live music, grounds and museums.
It's lovely to walk around El Prado at any time of the year, with it's beautiful fountains; and it's fun to observe the street performers who sometimes perform in front of the reflecting pool, but, for me, the best time of the year is during the Christmas holidays when it is decorated for non-other than Christmas :)
The food was amazing, but expensive. I feel it's quite over priced, but overall it was a pleasant experience. We were seated promptly, the service was excellent and the food was presented nicely and tasted great.
