Tin Cup is a small town North East of Gunnison. It was more popular during the 50's and 60's for those wanting to have a mountain retreat. The is fishing and camping and people to talk to. But this area is over run with people on four wheelers. Very noisy and dusty.
First stay here I stayed in Dan Tredway's cabin back in 2007, not long before he passed away. Great introduction to this old mining town. The cabins are all pretty rustic in this area, and very off the beaten path. The road in from Highway 50 goes over the pass at over 10000 feet and is a breathtaking view. Tent... 更多
If you are staying around Gunnison, it's worth it to get off the beaten path and visit Tin Cup and the surrounding areas. We stayed at the Colorado Dream Ranch (RV park and campground above Taylor Reservoir), where it is possible to take OHVs directly from the campground over to Tin Cup. We did see several vehicles do it (trucks,... 更多
A nice ride from the Taylor Park area for an ice cream at the store, or a meal at the restaurant or BBQ business. Like a living ghost town. Learned the history of this mining town from post cards purchased a the shop; if you sit quietly for a few minutes, you can envision what life was like here in... 更多
If you want to spend several days 4 wheeling down beautiful trails this is the place to start at. Purchase a map of the trails so you don't get lost, pack a lunch and enjoy the beautiful scenery and togetherness as a family or friends! (Don't go alone though as you could have break downs and be stranded). We hauled... 更多
This is an excursion we always take friends on when they come visit. The scenery is breathtaking and there are lots of opportunities to get out and stretch your legs. The whole area gets you thinking about what life was like during an earlier time.
We vacation in the area each year and during our visit, we like to attend church on Sunday morning at Tin Cup. The church there is very welcoming and friendly and you come away feeling refreshed and uplifted.
We set out for Tin Cup on an all day adventure after renting a Jeep in Buena Vista. Our first stop was the ghost town of St. Elmo and then we started our trek over the Tin Cup Pass. The rocky trail will definitely put your gut in check but it is an absolutely breath taking ride. On the down... 更多
