I guess when it storms, this is where the runoff occurs. Otherwise, on non-rainy days, hike from Chisos Basin to the top of the pour-off. Nice hike and amazing views into the valley. Bring a picnic!
This is one of those trails that goes down down down until you reach the gorgeous views at the pour off at the end... then your getting tired and it's back up up up on the way back! It is 5.8 miles round-trip and the trailhead is just behind the little convenience store at the end of the Chisos Mountain... 更多
Hiked to the Windows from Oak Spring Trails, which starts along the scenic drive. You can ask a park ranger for the exact name of the parking area, but it starts along the road side. A nice good hike with a lovely view of the windows. Would recommend going.
Descends 500 feet through the mountains to the Window Pour-off - a steep drop with beautiful views through the "Window." Medium hike, a few hours max. Not too strenuous. Scenery along the way is great! Downhill the way there is a nice break from uphill hiking!

This area is just so different from what is seen in other parts of Big Bend. We just love the mountains and trees! Wish we were younger to make the... 更多
The Window is the classic Big Bend view from the Chisos Basin, looking west between two peaks of the Chisos Mountains, out over the surrounding Chihuahuan Desert, making it an excellent sunset location and can be viewed via the easy 0.3 mile (0.5k) paved, accessible Window View loop trail or reached by the moderate 5.6 mile (9.0k) roundtrip Window Trail.... 更多
We actually saw the Window via the extremely short "Window View" trail first. Beautiful views! Then we hiked the 4.4 mile (round--trip) "Window" trail, which takes you right out to the Window itself. You can start this trail up by the Chisos Basin store or out at the campground. We began at the campground to save time, and we did... 更多
Midway through our 10 day Dual Sport Motorcycle Adventure Ride in Big Bend, we stayed at the Chisos Mountain Lodge...I managed to see and photograph, first hand, the View of The Window....over all my years, it was something special.
