The staff at the fort a friendly and informative, they really bring the history to life. I most appreciated the demonstration of what goods were traded, and the impact of those goods on the lives of the Cheyenne and Arapahoe people who lived in the area. This small site was a pivotal force in the US dealing with the native... 更多
This fort has been so accurately reconstructed, it should be seen by all...adults and kids alike! Walking around in it with all the historical artifacts gives you such a great idea what life was like back then! I hope all the area schools bring their kids out for a field day. It will stay with you long after you leave.
I was interested in visiting this site because of the connection of William Bent with the Kansas City, Missouri area. The fort has been restored to it's original condition. A must if you are interested in the history of the Santa Fe Trail.
I had the opportunity to visit the Bent's Old Fort during the 2016 Pedal the Plains biking event. We stopped here for one of our rest stations and I really wish I had had more time to look around! This old fort is really in good condition and provides an excellent peek into a piece of history. The fort is... 更多
An excellent opportunity to look at settling of this area. This is as an important place in the history of the west as Ft Laramie in Wyoming. Many similar things. We did not take the guided tour but found volunteers to answer questions and provide information. This is the kind of ouch and see experience that kids can't get on... 更多
I visited back in October 2015. To set the stage, the reconstructed fort is hidden from the parking lot. It does a lot to create the illusion. The entire site is isolated from traffic, and very little of the modern world is visible from the fort. It's a primarily rural area, with just a handful of visitors that day. The... 更多
We stumbled upon this place from trip advisor and so glad we did! What a great educational experience for all ages! There is a fairly long paved pathway to the entrance that is a nice walk or they will shuttle you in a golfcart to the entrance. They only take donations and it is a selfguided tour but there are reenactors there for... 更多
Being a history buff, I enjoyed the trading shops, with all the items you could buy for that era. The structure of the fort was impressive and you felt you were taking a peek at an era that is gone. Very informative, and liked the actors portraying what life was like. You can walk around at your leisure.
The fort was rebuilt exactly as the original fort. There is a tour led by rangers dressed as characters from the frontier era. They have researched the history of the fort and answer questions as a person from that time period. This is really a great lesson about the frontier period of our country and the hardships people endured to... 更多
Bent's Fort is a neat place for a lot of reasons. The reconstruction and period actors are magnificent. In the context that Bent's Fort was in, a fur trading outpost purposely on the border with Mexico, it's a really neat place to consider national and international policy during the 1830s and 1840s. Those interested in western American history and the... 更多
