Bandelier National Monument is 50 square miles of the Pajarito Plateau, on the slopes of the Jemez Volcanic field in the Jemez Mountains. Over 70% of the Monument is Wilderness, with over 1 mile elevation change, from about 5000' along the Rio Grande to over 10,000' at the rim of the Valles Caldera, providing for a wide range of life zones and wildlife habitat. There are only 3 miles of road, but over 70 miles of hiking trails. The Monument, founded in 1916, protects Ancestral Pueblo archeological sites, a beautiful landscape, and the country's largest Civilian Conservation Corps National Landmark District.

Very interesting history and beautiful landscape! The hike around this national monument was so worth the visit. There was some climbing, but otherwise a very manageable hike. If you're in the Santa Fe area, I highly recommend the stop here. If you're a photographer, you can get some great shots.

Wonderful scenic beauty and natural formations to hike, with fantastic ancient cliff dwellings of the Anasazi people thousands of years old. There are also ruins of village life from this ancient people. Fabulous experience that you don't want to miss!

Guided hiking brochures and a list of a range of hikes from an hour to all day are part of the experience. Helpful rangers can provide useful choices for your time and interest. A shuttle brings folks in from 9 a.m. onward. If you arrive beforehand, you can avoid the shuttle, but I actually enjoyed the bus trip so that,... 更多

Enjoyed the historical and social aspects of the monument. Would recommend to anyone who is able to walk and climb around a bit. My wife suffers from a hip that is painful so we only did about half the complete tour. We didn't try the dwelling that one climbs 120 feet of ladders to get to but she was a... 更多

We had a great day hiking and looking around, just wish it hadn't been so crowded the day that we went, definitely take a few hours for this one. It is a must see.

First drive yourself to location, don't take shuttle it doesn't operate till park closes. The trails are so well maintained and the signage are well marked. Buy a map at visitors center there only a dollar, so you know what your looking at. The cliff dewelling you have to climb stairs, however there are rails and resting places too. Take... 更多

We had been to Bandelier National Monument many years back. My wife now has one of those National Park Passports that we did not have way back then. We thought we’d just drive into the Monument and get our stamp and drive back out. Not so. In the intervening years a flood and a huge increase in visitors has brought... 更多

We had an absolutely wonderful day at Bandelier. We started off the morning by stopping at the White Rocks Visitor's Center. The volunteers there were very knowledgeable and led us to the free shuttle to the actual Bandelier Nat'l Park. It was about a 20 minute ride. Please take plenty of water with you, sunblock, breathable clothes and proper shoes.... 更多

Visiting Bandelier was both a high and low point in our vacation. We started out by riding the shuttle into the park, because we were told we could not drive in. Upon arriving and talking with the rangers, we realized the hike we wanted to do was in a different area and we needed our car to do that. Needless... 更多

Bandelier offers a glimpse into the life of Native Americans who lived in the area. The hike around the park is not overly taxing but make sure you take water with you. Since their parking lot was destroyed by a flash flood some time back, you must park at the visitors center where a short 20 minute bus ride will... 更多
