We took the Frey Trail down to the main loop, which gave us great, elevated views of Frijoles Canyon. It's a beautiful canyon with different level hiking trails available for all different types of fitness levels. Get out & enjoy!
Frijoles Canyon is in part of Bandelier National Monument. Truly one of the most beautiful places I have seen, especially in autumn. Reminded me somewhat of the area around Zion National park. Going into the park for awhile it appears as though you are riding along a ridge with the canyon on either side. Gorgeous!
Gorgeous canyon with loads of history, this was one of the areas where there is a cross over of foliage and Native Americans could find a lot of what they needed to survive and to use in their medicines. It's a spiritual place that seems more deserving of a name like Carne Asada rather than Frijoles ;)
Frijoles Canyon forms part of the Bandalier National Monument and is the extension of the valley beyoingd the Cliff Dwellings. There are high sand stone cliffs to one side and across the river partly wooded hills.
The main cultural attractions of Bandelier National Monument, the visitor center and the ruins trail, are in Frijoles Canyon, and they are definitely worth seeing. Also, Frijoles Canyon was hit hard by flooding (of the Rito Frijoles) a few years ago, and the effects, downed trees, demolished bridges, etc. are evident and quite interesting. The Canyon goes down to the... 更多
If you only have a short time at Bandelier NM, then this is the trail to take. It's about a mile long from the Visitor's Center to Long House and another mile or so to the amazing Alcove House. The trail continues another 5 miles to Upper Crossing but the trail is very difficult to follow since the two recent... 更多
I would have drive through this area without even having an end destination It's hard to process the amount of beauty around you. We kept pulling over to the overlooks just to stop and get out and stare into the distance.
Such a mesmerizing trip with seemingly more spectacular views one after another. The whole area of the canyon and the surrounding views is inspiring and we have run out of adjectives! Just go, take it all in sowly and enjoy amazing everything.
Reserve about 3 hours for the slow stroll all the way to Alcove dwelling. Try to get in as many as allowed cliff dwellings and spent some time inside trying to imagine how they lived many, many years ago.
There are so many views to take in along Frijoles Canyon that it is hard to find fault with it, especially since it is so easily accessible during good weather. Bandelier is a must-do on any Frijoles trip.
