We set out to go see the arches with a detailed pamphlet with the locations. We didn't see but maybe 6 or 7 but we really enjoyed all the rock formations! If your GPS is equipped with longitude and latitude, you will need it. Our GPS was not equipped with this function and that is why we didn't see more... 更多
WE were thre on a photography fied trip. The arches were an unexpected. bonus. Stop by the visitor's center and pick up a brochure. It is surprisingly accurate in getting to the many destinations. IYou are somwhat off road. I recommend a vehicle with higher ground clearance. Some roards are worse than others. Most can be viewd near the road.... 更多
We didn't have a GPS, but the Aztec visitors center has a brochure that will direct you to several of the arches. The directions are a little hard to follow since these are off gas well roads. But, GPS coordinates are available for download which would help considerably. We found a couple and really enjoyed the short hike to each... 更多
I got a "Aztec Arches" brochure from the Aztec Ruins office. Although the directions overwhelmed me at first, they are all in the same area and most are down the same road. You MUST use your trip odometer. If you have a sense of adventure and enjoy taking the family car off-roading, take these tours. My dog loved them, and... 更多
We hiked to 6 different arches and they were all easy to find and so worth the time. These arches are amazing!! Follow the directions below. Zero out your odometer at each turn and its simple. Wear long pants, the brush is a little scratchy on the skin. Take water. Have a blast!!!!!!!
They say there's a lot of them.Well we followed the directions given to us at the visitors center, and the brochure and after an hour and a half we gave up. We DIDN'T FIND ONE! We did have a nice little 4x4 adventure though. Too many dirt roads with too many oil/gas pumps, for there not to be some kind... 更多
We followed the directions on the Aztec Arches brochure attempting to find Arch Rock. It was said to be the largest arch opening near Aztec, NM and which could be viewed from the car. After traveling down County Road 2770 for 6 miles and taking the "junction" which apparently has no road number, we drove another 5 miles on the... 更多
The Aztec Museum has a small guidebook to the Aztec area Sandstone arches. Some are large, someare small ,but all are secluded. Shannon Lynch's guide has a GPS location for all of them. If Geocaching for geology appeals to you then this is great place to start. Be sure and take along a camera.
