The Battle of Antietam in Sharpsburg is very important in Civil War history and American history for three reasons: 1) The battle marked the end of Robert E. Lee’s Confederate Army of Northern Virginia's first invasion of the North. 2) The battle led Abraham Lincoln to announce the Emancipation Proclamation. 3) It was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history.... 更多

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the battlefield. I would recommend starting at the visitors center with the talk given by the park ranger followed by the movie. The view of the battlefield coupled with the informative talk really helped to get a good understanding of the battle. An important piece of American history not to be missed.

Got here later in the day and could have used more time! The visitor's center has a good intro movie. Otherwise, biking or car would be the best way to get around and see the sites.

Walked some of it, drove the rest. Museum part was very informative re: the battle. Inexpensive, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed learning. Respect the preservation of history.

The park rangers and docents were outstanding in their anecdotal stories of the battles and the people who fought them. Mike and Andrew at Pry House made it come alive with stories of what took place there and the officers soldiers and families effected by these battles. They gave you a view of the very real human suffering cost on... 更多

This is a well constructed driving tour that tells the story of this awful Civil War battle. It starts at the visitor center, which has a short movie to watch, a small museum area, gift shop and wonderful views ofthe battlefields. There are 11 stops on the tour, each with parking and plenty of information placards, ending with the Antietam... 更多

We came here for Veterans Day, which was fitting. Antietam is an important part of our history and I was impressed with how well preserved it is. It's in beautiful MD rolling hills so it's hard to imagine the sad event that took place here. The NPS does not due private tours like they have at Gettysburg.

Loved our tour guide! Bob Murphy from R- C- M History Tours. He is incredibly knowledgeable in the history of Antietam, and the Civil War in general. He is personable, interesting and funny! Our 3 hours with him were enlightening and joyful.

Antietam was a horrible battle of our American Civil War, but the National Park Service has made touring this area easy, while preserving the landscape of the battle. The Visitor's Center is the starting point for your visit, as you can get maps of the area for the driving tour or if you want to do some hiking, of the... 更多

We spent a whole day here. We hiked many of the trails. You can pick up the maps at the visitor's center, the maps explain what happened in the battles. The hiking is nice. I think it is the best way to see the battlefield if you can do it. Visiting this battlefield and others really makes you feel and... 更多
