This is definitely a place you want to see. The museum and park are just above the tunnels. This was an older Pennsylvania Railroad, now Norfolk Southern mainline. The tunnels were constructed to alleviate the mountainous terrain. Lots of train action. Lawns and grounds are well kept. Reasonable parking, not so much for motor homes in the Allegheny mountain towns.
A short drive from horseshoe curve and a lot better place to view the trains close up.There is a little park right next to the tracks and also a bridge above the tracks for viewing the trains. There is a nice museum across the street to visit as well.
We stop here on your way back from the horseshoe curve. There are many spots here to watch trains. They have a caboose that you can tour and a free museum. The town here is little and people seem very friendly. There are many other places to watch trains in the area.
