This is supposed to be the largest wooden Ferry at least in the USA - ever. Whatever, Eureka is unique. Steam-powered with a walking beam engine, capacity of 2300 people and 120 cars the ferry was in service for 67 years and served defense needs in both world wars. Cavernous interior with vintage cars on the car level.
The Eureka is a very well restored ferry boat from the era when thousands of Bay Area residents commuted by ferry daily. It has some classic cars and fun tidbits scattered throughout. Touring this boat, and the other boats anchored nearby, was the best deal that I have had in San Francisco!
