The Schoodic Peninsula is a beautiful place to be , particularly during summer and fall. Good camping, rock climbing, wooded trails, lobster eating and neat galleries offering local and even international art and hand crafts. The arts and lobster festival during August are great family fun as well.
we decided we wanted to go to winter harbor while we were up that way. amazing...we drove to the peninsula. had never been there before. the surf was amazing. got lots of pics of waves. also, saw 4 lighthouses. I loved that. we will definitely go back there.
This is a nice side trip about 20 miles east of Hancock (follow the signs for Schoodic Point). It is about 20 mins from the jct of Route 1 and the Bar Harbor cut off. The scenic drive is a one-way road around the point right next to the water.
I had never been here - friends found it. An hour away from Bar Harbor- well worth the hour ride over. We did a lot of walking, then down to see high tide coming in the rocks. A new visitor center and campground were worth seeing- to think about camping there next year.
It is well worth the drive over to the eastern section of Acadia National Park to see the Schoodic Peninsula. Get away form the crowds of tourists and enjoy the solitude and coastal beauty along the way. There are plenty of pullout views of the rocky seacoast & the views are particularly good near sunset.
This area is beautiful! The fall colors were gorgeous and the constantly changing vistas were amazing. We drove leisurely, stopping frequently to take in all the views. The road has two lanes, both the same direction, so any cars going faster can easily pass you if they need to. The ferry stop has restrooms and picnic tables. Just after that... 更多
Take the bright yellow Schoodic Ferry with your bikes (we rented for the day) to Winter Bay and then bike around the peninsula. This is a great break from the crowds, a nice bike ride, and the point is breathtaking. Either take a picnic or stop at the outdoor stand at JM Gerrish for a lobster roll or hot dog.... 更多
My friend and I were renting a house in Hancock and decided to drive the 20-30 minutes to Schoodic Peninsula since we had heard such great reviews; we were so happy that we did! Not only is the scenery breathtaking, but also the crowds were non-existent. We were able to drive as slowly as we wanted to take in the... 更多
We took a ride to Schoodic Peninsula on a rainy day. Took around an hour from Bar Harbor to get there. We went in late Oct. so mostly everything was closed however we did take in the 5 & 10 in Winter Harbor, interesting store. I could only imagine the great views one would get looking back over to Bar... 更多
We went here before we got to the main part of the park, and I'm glad we did. There was hardly anybody in the park. Unfortunately the visitor center was closed, so we weren't able to learn as much about this part of the park as we would have liked. The hike out to the rocks was nice and not... 更多
