Interesting bit of local railroad history. Unfortunately, the museum was closed the day I was here, but you can walk around and see the outside displays. Be sure to check the museum hours and days of operations if you plan to visit. The sign on the door says that visits on closed days are by appointment.
My family and I stopped in for a few minutes that turned into an hour. The guide, David was great and knew about all the items on display.
Great place for information about the old Hawaiian railway system. Plenty of pictures & artifacts, even some videos. The collection of restored vehicles is very impressive, the volunteers have done a great job. An interesting place even for non-railroad fans
Any time we come to Big Island, we try to make it to this museum. The volunteers are constantly working on restoring old rail cars and expanding the collection.
