I love this funky place. It's the embarcadero for the trains that used to deliver sugar to the ships waiting off shore. If you are looking for a crescent shaped beach with golden sand this ain't it. But it's a locals sunset hangout, a great place to launch yourself off the concrete wall and take in the sunset. Bring your... 更多
We spent the day beach hopping, and this was another one of the "gems" that kept popping up. A somewhat secluded area (despite its easy access and nearness to the road), with great waves breaking on the rocky shore line. Even on a weekend, there were few people around; and the 1930s railroad building just added to the sense of... 更多
We stopped in to look for whales as we were making our way down the coast. We saw a few, nearer than we had seen them elsewhere that day. The beach was sparsely populated, with a couple of snorkelers in the water and a few swimmers at the far end of the beach.
Been here many time to scuba dive. Great site with an easy entry for either snorkelling or diving. Bonus is the warm water shower to rinse off after.
This is a very easy spot to get into the water and begin snorkeling or scuba. The site is an abandoned wharf from years gone by. The state has fastened a very sturdy stainless steel ladder to the concrete which makes it very easy to get in and out with fins. The site is full of yellow tang and angel... 更多
I am not sure if there are issues with exposure to currents and waves here on a normal day, but on a clear, calm day in June, this is, by far, the best snorkeling on the entire Kohala Coast. Obviously, the protected Northern wall will be nice, but it is also very nice 30 meters south of the wall and... 更多
We drove to this site from our hotel. It was awesome. You can drive right up to the water, get your gear on and go. The water was calm and clear. We saw abundant fish of all colors. The ladder to get into the water is a bit dicy, but is usefull.
This old, abandoned sugar plant is now a terrific harbor for snorkeling. There is a slippery ladder into a protected inlet, with sometimes big waves crashing in so be careful. Once in the water, you'll enjoy seeing a lot of aquatic life, and the bottom of the harbor has some old shipping equipment covered in coral. Probably best for those... 更多
The place looks a bit scary- like from a horror film a bit- but we stopped by on our way to Hawi and I'm glad we did. We tried snorchling there for the first time during our stay in Hawaii and it was beautiful, I really enjoyed a lot. We were there in the moning and, as we were so... 更多
