If the surf is up this is a great spot to surf or watch surfers. The park itself is nicely landscaped and cared for. The approach road is narrow for cars but a beautiful walk with waterfalls and bridges.
A small beach right on the Ocean outside Hilo Bay. This place is VERY popular with local surfers. Whole families would come out and park on the hill to watch the surfers and boogyboarders. As a side note, keep going stright down the hill and around the corner and you will find yourself in a breathtakingly lush rainforest.
This beach is not really a beach at all. Welcome to the Big Island. It is a field of scree, next to the ocean. If you can "walk" the beach and not twist your ankle, you are doing very well. We found no sea glass at the end of our walk either, where the river deposits black sand. But the... 更多
I was disappointed that one could not reach the beach area unless you climbed over rocks after the nice walkway..or you went down a steep pathway, then over rocks. Once there it was a pleasant beach.. Not exactly Sandy but sand and rock! Good to look for glass, À turtle swam into the river area, decided he liked the ocean... 更多
Honoli'i Beach Park has cleaned up over the years thanks to some good community members. It is taken care of by the people that surf there. It is a stone beach at the mouth of the Honolii river so the water is sweet water with a mix of ocean and artesian springs and river water. There is a nice bathroom... 更多
We enjoyed a day in Hilo whilst on a cruise and this was another stop in our tour of the area. Beautiful place to see on a lovely sunny day. As glorious as the rest of the area
When my son heard about the sea glass at this beach, of course he wanted to come and find them. Street parking, little tricky since there are lots of local surfers. Walk down the stairs and go left until you see a tall bridge above you. We found plenty of sea glass in the sand. One of the guys selling... 更多
Hilo's premier surf spot is beautiful and has a lifeguard and, often, sand. There's bathrooms, several surf breaks and, on the left, a river meets the sea. The river is nearly always calm and offers safe swimming. The lifeguard can also advise about currents, waves, etc. Bring body boards and have a fun surf adventure.
This is the best surfing spot in the Hilo area. It is down a narrow road with limited parking but it is worth it. If you are not going to surf, it is a beautiful place to look at and check out the waves.
