Inside the interpretative center itself is quite small and not a lot to see, however the lady working there is a wealth of information and you should definitely take the time to chat with here. Most of the museum is housed outside in the trains. They do not have all of them restored inside yet, but they do have big... 更多
We had a great stop-over here and enjoyed our picnic surrounded by some great examples of America's rail road history. The tiny museum has some very interesting materials and the staff who work there are only too happy to help.
We stopped here because of the Jackalope, but the trains were pretty cool also. The two ladies inside the chamber of commerce were full of information. They handed out stickers, jackalope hunting license for the kids and lots of information about the area. It was a nice place to stretch your legs after being in the car all day.
The Douglas Railroad Interpretive Center is colocated with the Chamber of Commerce, and doesn't have a lot of memorabilia on exhibit. What it does have is trains. And how wonderful they are! This exhibit is free at the chamber of commerce. Several railroad cars are displayed including a fabulous steam engine. There were also cars that you could walk through. The dining car, which includes the kitchen, is really worth seeing. I've always wanted to enter a sleeper car and this was my opportunity. How small and carefully appointed this space is!... 更多
Very nice collection of railroad equipment. The cars are open to see the interiors. There is no charge but donations are welcome
Some excellent pieces of rolling stock and several cars that can be accessed on the inside. Friendly staff offers information on the site. Free admission but donations accepted. A good place to spend an hour if you like trains.
Very nice display at the Chamber of Commerce building. Actually walk through some of the cars and see their displays. Would people now fit into the sleeping cars? Hmmm. Free with display boards. Wonderful grass for the puppies to lay in the shade while we took turns going through the cars. The Chamber ladies let us bring in our well-behaved... 更多
My family had a great visit. The gentleman working there was very informative and answered all my daughter's questions. The train cars were nice to walk through and made you wish you could still travel in this manner. Thank you for a great experience!
