Pendarvis is a great couple hour stop, a terrific way to help preserve history and an opportunity to marvel at what one couple can accomplish through their love of "home" and determination. This historic site gives one an opportunity to learn more about Wisconsin and how this area was founded. Well worth a stop!!!
Pendarvis consists of old buldings that exist from the mining era. Unfortunately there were no tours being given, so we just walked around the property and looked at the outside of each structure. The self guided tour booklet gave a little information, but I would have enjoyed learning more on a guided tour.
My sisters and I stopped at Pendarvis on a historical tour we were doing. We missed the guided tour, but took their booklet and did a self-guided tour. I think you probably would get more out of Pendarvis on the guided tour because we walked through the buildings fairly quickly as their wasn't much to see or read in them.... 更多
I went there with my friend. She had never been there before, I had. It is not a large site, quite small actually. But it has many steps, and uneven stone walk ways. I require a walker for any distance and was therefore unable to see much of the site. Is it a must see? No.
Pendarvis is a tour through several buildings from the lead mining era that gave Mineral Point its name. The docents are thoughtful and well informed and the buildings well-maintained and authentic. I recommend the tour but caution that it involves a lot of stairs both inside and outside between buildings. One member of our group couldn't go on the tour... 更多
This site is awesome, but I did not enjoy the self-guided part of it. They gave me a booklet to read, but the articles were so long I didn't feel like taking the time to read it. The buildings were well maintained, but I think it's a one time visit.
My wife and I visited Pendarvis after a morning visit to the First State Capital. Since we are History Society Members, we got in for free and enjoyed a self guided tour of the property. I learned a bit about the history of the mine and its' people, if you're interested in that, this is the place to visit.
Guided tour of the Miners homes of mineral point cost of the tour was $10.00 per person the tour was about an hour fifteen minutes long not a good tour for the handicapped lots of stairs flagstone walkways .very informative about the mining of the area .
Pendarvis is a remarkable historic site that is well worth a visit. We did the self guided tour with took approximately an hour. The admission price was reasonable and as a history buff this was a great way to spend an afternoon. The site consists of multiple restored building from the original Cornish settlers of Mineral Point. Also we took... 更多
I enjoyed the tour and interpretive information, however I was continually distracted by the gap in the story about the two men who started the whole thing. Were they gay or not? I understand it's a small town but it's the 21st century, you can plant your rainbow flag high if you want to.
