Beautiful view of Lacrosse, from a dizzying height. The drive up is slow, road is narrow, but well worth the trip. Much easier in the summer!
If you're in Lacrosse you gotta drive up to Grandad's to take in the view. It's not often you can stand atop a hill and take in three states(WI, MN, and Iowa). Also take a little time to hike around some of the trails to get away from the tourists.
Grandad Bluff is the largest bluff in the La Crosse area and is well-known for its scenic overlook of La Crosse. I would consider this the city's top natural attraction for its view of the Mississippi River Valley which includes the three states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. The park offers coin-operated binoculars, picnic areas, and restrooms.
I went here late at night as a last minute trip. It's incredibly gorgeous, and at night you can see basically the entire city of LaCrosse lit up below you. The path around it is nice, though not well lit at night so I would recommend coming at sunset.
We were on a motorcycle and this was recommended to us so on our way out we stopped ..this was worth the time and the view was gorgeous. I would stop again and spend a little more time there
It is a very cool and scenic view of the city of Lacrosse! Easy to find with plenty of parking. I would like to check it out during the peak fall colors.
Driving west on Main Street, up the bluff and then turning right, you head towards Grandad Bluff which gives you a fantastic view of La Crosse, the Mississippi and the Minnesota side.
