It was a rainy weekday in mid-summer when we visited. We saw about six other travelers during our drive. In the middle of nowhere is this scenic highway that's worth traveling on. There's many places to pull over and park so you can get pictures of the majestic views of West Virginia.
Scenes can be breathtaking. Depending upon the times there is often a lot of fog and it is always a few degrees colder since you are high in the mountains. Really pretty in the autumn.
The route is 22.5 miles long running from the southern junction at WV Route 39 and WV Route 55 and winds its way up to the junction of the 219 and and the 55 north of Edray. Nice drive with some excellent outlook points. There are also a lot of trails to check out while driving along, including a great short walk looking at the honeycomb rocks. Amazing.
If you in the area on your motorcycle, any time of year make sure you take a ride across 150! The visitors enter on the Rt. 55 side is a nice stop
Words just cannot describe the beauty of this ride through the mountains of West Virginia. We were told it is the highest paved road in the state.
