Location is a little out of the way, but it was well worth the trip. Guide provided excellent commentary on the purpose of the radio telescopes. Very educational and fun. Something you have probably never seen before.
The science/educational value is excellent. My daughter, 7, loved it. Unique exhibit hall is free. Tour has a small fee, about $7 for adults and $3 for kids. The tour is well worth it. You sit for a 20 minute informational segment then ride in bus to get up close to radio telescope. The whole thing is in the middle... 更多
Super cool views of many, many radio telescopes. We had driven by this site numerous times on our way to Snowshoe, and finally made a several hour visit in July 2015. Most people seemed to skip the museum inside, but that is a mistake. LOTS of hands on exhibits to bring the information down to a level of understanding for... 更多
The science museum and tour were very educational and interesting for the grandkids and the rest of us. Yes, the Radio Telescopes were so massive that they got oohs and awes from everyone. There is a fee for the bus tour but it is worth it. They also have a great restaurant and the gift shop has lots of science... 更多
We stopped here after other tourists told us it was something to see. It was very interesting and it offers so much for people in the area. A good place to learn science and everyone here welcomes you.
Because of the location, technology of many sorts can't be used. It's a fascinating area and facility that I highly recommend. I take tour groups here regularly, and they all leave fascinated and with new knowledge! This "Space Place" is a must see if traveling through!
Great tour and got to see all of the different telescopes pretty up close. Very impressive to see first hand. The visitor center was pretty good. Lots of hands on stuff for the kids.
Visiting the Green Bank Science Center is a great way to spend a few hours. The tour is top notch and very interesting as well as educational. The staff is extremely well versed in all aspects of the Astronomy Observatory and, on certain days special programs are also offered. The entrance fee is very reasonable $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for... 更多
We took a day-trip here from Charlottesville, Virginia. The 3 hour drive was scenic with nice places to stop at along the way. We arrived on a very busy day (the Friday before July 4th). As a result, the next tour was booked. We learned though that you can walk a self-guided tour and see all the radio telescopes (with... 更多
Most people don't know much about astronomy, let alone radio astronomy. So taking my family here was high on my vacation "to-do" list and none of us were disappointed. It is a little bit out of the way, but that is necessary for it to function. Being close to Seneca Rocks and Snowshoe makes it somewhat convenient.
