Definitely worth an hour of your time to explore this little gem of a museum. Probably the best display of life on the Peninsula from the early days. Lots of photos, the original jail (pretty scary), and a great amount of detail about little known early shipping secrets (you can get a real good understanding of where the term "being... 更多

Great exhibit of the beginning of Port Townsend. In the original city hall building. Beautiful structure and architecture. Great introductory video. Worth visiting

Unfortunately we left this one until late in the afternoon. We could have spent a good half day there. There was an amazing antique quilt display there which we really enjoyed. The building is great. The staff is friendly. The displays are great! The jail is just like they say it is -- creepy! Admission price was extremely reasonable.

The building is a fabulous example of great 1880s architecture. The museum requires a small entrance fee and is enjoyable to visit at one's own pace--no docent or tour. The old jail is down the stairs and has interesting information about how men and women were incarcerated. Much good historical information to take in. There's a nice little gift shop... 更多

Live history tour! The best part is the museum admission is included in the price of the walking tour.$10 for adults $5 for children *maybe I can't find my receipt. Our guide was very knowledgeable about local history. She is able to customize the tour to the guests that attend (all while wearing a beautiful Victorian dress hat and gloves... 更多

As others have said in their reviews, this museum has a lot of local history. The first stop is a video, with some interesting information regarding the area and the people. This is one of three small museums run by the local historical society. A lot of information regarding the local industries and resources that made Port Townsend famous and... 更多

Interesting History of the house and town area in the museum. Old Buildings in town, good shops and cafe's, Ferry point to Whidbey Island

I spent a glorious two hours or more, just exploring this old firehouse/courtroom turned into a Museum. The choices as you walked into the Courtroom, now housing major exhibits of native American art, gave me cause for a pause. I chose the jailhouse exhibit and I was very surprised at what was on display.

A very friendly staff to greet you, and a nice gift shop awaits you. This is still a working city council building, and you are invited to go into the chambers during off hours to explore. Along with a good history display of the town, there is also an ongoing art exhibit in the gallery area. The old city jail... 更多
