The lake is quite large and had a wonderful beach nearby. You just have to watch out for all the goose poop. I brought my dog with me and she enjoyed chasing balls in the water.
I live on the lake, so I can say that it is breathtaking in its beauty. It is a three basin lake which stretches from Bellingham city limits to Skagit County in the south.
If you had to select a place to live and raise children, this would be it. There is a small beach that young children would like. There are beautiful houses with boat docks. It is a pretty area to walk around. There are clean restrooms, a nice playground and close to the park to go for a walk.
Most of the action/crowds is centered are Bloedel Donovan Park, but there are plenty of places to find to seclude yourself and chill out with a book and a snack. I end most of my long bike rides with a quick swim here, followed by a downhill ride into Bellingham. That dries me off so I can hit Kulshan Brewery... 更多
Being a Western Washington University student, I used the kayak rentals and sent a day on the lake with a friend. it was a beautiful day and the water was calm. I go often.
Lake Whatcom is a large lake in the Sudden Valley housing division in Bellingham. Boating is allowed and there is a small beach but it is the view that gets you. Either looking down from the hills of Sudden Valley or at shore level it is a sight for sore eyes
