Appears small compared to everything else at the beach. but has a lot of interesting historical facts along with duck carvings. Have some time to spaer, check it out.
My husband and I were riding bikes on a foggy morning and stopped here to check it out. There was an artist there carving some cardinals out of wood. The decoys there are works of art. Some very old. Nice place to visit for area history.
A small museum that takes you back as to how Va Beach was lots of years ago, on the second floor. The first floor exhibits detailed carvings of birds and waterfowl. interesting walk back in time of Va. Beach shows you what it used to be like, A history of the beach and its waterfowling roots, nice display of antique decoys! and a small shop.
We stopped by for a few minutes while on the board walk. Not a lot to see, a few displays, some decoys and a fellow carving a new decoy. I would suggest making a special trip to see it, but OK if you're walking by.
It's free so take a short time to pass by. A lot history about Virginia beach area. They have a nice collections of painting. I think that was the most interesting item for me.
My wife and I biked to the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum, while on a recent vacation in Virginia Beach. We had a wonderful conversation with the lady at the front desk and got to speak with one of the local wood carvers, which was very interesting. The museum is free and worth a visit or two.
