A quaint piece of history on the boardwalk. Part store part museum. A lot of information about the lifesaving stations along to coast. The little tour is worth the few dollars it costs.
The Old Coast Guard Station was a nice place to visit on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Only $4 to get in. It's a bit small, and maybe not terribly interesting to someone who isn't knowledgeable of maritime history, but I was able to find some interesting bits, especially regarding the shipwreck history and the connections with WWII. Fascinating museum to learn about the rescues performed by the brave Coast Guardsmen who patrolled this area. Well worth the stop-in and to visit the cute gift shop.
Took my father in law. We had a wonderful time, lots of informative displays. The locations is on the beach and is the perfect location for further exploring.
This museum is located right on the Boardwalk. Entry fee is minimal. Museum guide was quite knowledgeable and friendly. I learned much about the ingenuity of early life savers who risked their own lives to save those aboard foundering ships.
