We parked at the lower Hawksbill parking area (on Skyline Drive) and took Cedar Run Trail to the Link trail to White Oak Canyon trail. The Cedar Run trail was downhill for 1.5 hours over very rocky terrain. It was not particularly pleasant. The Link trail was over moderately rolling terrain. Once we got on the White Oak Canyon trail... 更多
Nice, fairly easy hike from the entrance to the first of the lower falls. Water was cold which felt good after hiking. The water is about waist deep. Mostly slightly up hill going in and back down going out.
It is a strenuous hike. And if you are doing the loop, I highly recommend a walking stick/pole for going down. It will help a lot when your legs feel like jelly and you have to cross the creek on slippery rock. Bring water and a snack and a positive attitude. The waterfalls are lovely and there are some swimming... 更多
We arrived early (8:30) in order to get parking in the lower lot. Take the trail, staying to the right. We were about .25 mile in when we came across a black bear on the trail. He looked at us and sauntered off into the woods. AMAZING sight! It's about 3 miles uphill miles past water falls and small pools... 更多
Spent a Saturday morning hiking to the lower falls. The hike is relatively easy but can get challenging after the first set of falls. I brought my dog and we all took the time to cool down in the pools below the falls. Truly beautiful and peaceful. The trail is alongside water the entire time so you can recharge in... 更多
My daughter hiked the lower falls..following the trail and taking the time to stop and wade in the beautiful pools we encountered. The hike wasn't hard but it required us to be aware...once we reached the falls it was beautiful and so peaceful. I can't wait to do it again! Go prepared and bring water!! Enjoy the falls..!!!
This review is of the hike starting at the parking lot off Rt. 600. There is also a parking lot on Skyline Drive, coming from the opposite direction. Starting from the trailhead off Rt. 600 seems far preferable because you start at the bottom of the canyon and hike up, as opposed to Skyline Drive trailhead, where you hike down... 更多
I went for the morning before the Bluegrass Festival at Graves with my Dad. We only made it to the lower Falls due to time constraint but it was really nice. Lots of rocks so be careful if it's wet. The falls were beautiful. There was a lot of parking and the ranger Grant who was at the station, where... 更多
Last Friday, 27th of May 2016, I parked my vehicle at the SNP Syria parking site, left a note on the dashboard of my intended plans (trail, date, estimated time of return & emergency contact info) earlier I sent emails & texts to 2 reliable contacts of my itinerary plans for hiking White Oak Canyon & waterfalls. I had sprayed... 更多
