The magnificent fort of Queen Ahilyadevi Holkar located on the banks of Narmada river in Maheshwar is a historical treasure worth visiting. The temples and the ghats are part of the fort complex. The architecture is majestic. The view of the fort from the river on a boat is absolutely amazing.

Great work of architecture; Very poorly maintained - partly because of the tourists littering all over the place. One of the best places to enjoy a nice cold bath under the scorching sun. The boat ride fares are mentioned in a board and may not require negotiation. The sun set is beautiful from the shore of Narmada at this fort.... 更多
Although teh grandeur of the fort is apparent from the ghats, the beauty of the fort can only be appreciated once you make the effort to go up the large number of stairs from the Ahilyabai Ghat. There is a possibility of driving to the fort and the temple inside, but the roads are narrow and parking is an issue.... 更多
Witnessing The Ahilaya Dynasty ....still partly occupied by the successor, well managed and very neat & clean place. The river bank is ideal for boating experience in a very peaceful environment. The Narmada view is amazing to see. The temple near by made by Queen Ahilya is worth to see for its architecture value also. Thanks
A lovely fort in the bank of Narmada. amazing sunset view from the ahilyabai ghats. Avoid holiday seasons as it gets crowded with lot of tourists which dilutes the beauty of the palace.
Well preserved and a walk through the walls of the fort gives one a feeling of being part of a by-gone era. It might not be as massive other forts in india, but has a charm which is indescribable. The views from here are stunning especially in the mornings and evenings.
