Walking around the water mill it was so peaceful, but we were disappointed the restaurant was closed, however we headed on in to Meadows of Dan and ate at Janes Cafe!
The mill and surrounding outbuildings are great examples of a bygone era. The mill itself is a fantastic example of human ingenuity. My wife an I visited Mabry Mill in late October of 2014. It s a beautiful fully operational water wheel driven grist mill, built in the late 1800's. There is also a restaurant and gift shop located near by. The mill is a federal park preserve and has tons of info available on signage and from volunteers and rangers located... 更多
The area was beautiful to walk around and take photos. We saw some wild deer and met some great folks, out taking pics and exploring as we were.
A must see on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Its very easy to see why its the most photographed spot on the parkway. If you get a chance to go when the restaurant and shops are open, its a must. The demonstrations are very interesting and the food is fabulous. The pancakes and ice cream are must haves :)
