What a fascinating place to visit. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the tour is no charge, they had so many artifacts of the Washington family and the Lee family, how could anyone not like the place?
When in Lexington (or the area) ... You see Robert E. Lee! The museum has a great flow to it, and the signage and docents help keep you headed in the right direction. It says tours are offered on the hour and the half hour but as we were there on a slow day the docent upstairs was giving his... 更多
I have been here three times, most recently last week. I love going to this museum and have learned something new each time. I plan to return again on my next trip.
Allocate one hour. The burial memorial in the chapel is a classic from a bygone era. The museum below focuses on the post-Civil War Lee which describes a little-known aspect of Lee's life. There are a fine collection of artifacts. Don't forget to tour Lee's office near the door.
Those interested in history or civil war will find this an interesting place to visit as it expands on lee's post military career and gives interesting insights. Beautiful chapel
If you ever wondered why he was so respected, even by the opposition, you have to check this place out. What an awesome Godly man. The chapel is beautiful. The museum is not large, but well appointed and describes his commitment to an educated America
Why did we wait so long to visit...! Going back, it was worth the time. History came alive, got to know the man as well as the legend. Gen. Lee...what more can one say. The Chapel is still in use today and is pretty. The Museum and gift shop are small but excellent. Good incite into the man and college life in the nineteenth century. Free admission.
This is well worth your time. We learned a lot about Robert E Lee. Well cared for buildings and clean lawn. Staff was very knowledgeable and answered any questions.
