Just moving to VA from MA it's interesting to read about the "Union" and "Confederates" one of the Union from a town we lived in Mass. Bonus a deer walked toward us on the way in and during a trail hike a buck foraged while we watched. My kids where so excited! Worth the visit!
I love hiking at Balls Bluff! There are several marked trails both in the woods and along the river. The longer trails provide enough elevation change to get a great cardio workout. We always see hikers with their dogs, and the short walk to the cemetery is about perfect for little kids.
It's been a couple of years since we've been there, but I really enjoyed it, but I really like to hike. Full of history and sights, can't go wrong there!
The cemetery is very small but well maintained. The trails are clearly marked with many information signs explaining the battle of Ball's Bluff. Trails are not difficult and the view of the Potomac is very nice.

I highly recommend this... 更多
This is a national cemetery set in a smaller park with walking trails near the Potomac Cemetery. Somewhat harder to locate as it is situated at the back of a residential subdivision. Interesting if you are into the civil war. At times there are docents who will give a guided tour.
