This almost 1200 acre refuge is located at the southern tip of Virginia's Eastern Shore. It has a terrific visitor center, with a number of exhibits depicting the natural life of the area. There are some great hands-on displays, particularly good for children. There are only a couple of short hiking/walking trails. There is a canoe/kayak launch that has maybe... 更多
This should be everyone's first stop when coming into the area. They have an extensive amount of information about the history of the shore, as well as current day. The center is 100% volunteer operated which is very cool in my book. This is the beginning of the trail head for the half mile hike to the marsh overlook. The... 更多
Great information and the person attending the Center was friendly and gracious. Stop by the Center to get info on what to see and where.

There are many wildlife viewpoints--we saw a bald eagle-gun from the Battleship Missouri (point of surrender of the Japanese at the end of WWII), and reveled in the cool wooded areas replete with flowers and animals.... 更多
I walked up several flights of steps to an observation deck. A parking lot is close by a WWII Artillery piece from the U.S.S. Misouri.
We stopped by here as basically a turnaround spot after driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Because it was lightly raining, we were the only ones in the center. The sweet volunteer was so great with out kids, and she took delight and showing us around the exhibits. The kids enjoyed the "touch" tables of found items, and the park... 更多
