The preserved town of Plymouth Notch is a national treasure. The museum is small, but the main event is the different houses, barns, and other buildings that were an integral part of Coolidge’s life. Docents are available to give information and ask questions at each building. What struck me was the way that period in our history is so clearly... 更多
Museum and buildings exhibit the birthplace of President Alvin Coolidge. The whole village is now the museum. Worth a couple of hours
We didn't take the tour of the grounds because of the weather, but thoroughly enjoyed the museum. It's small but they have an interesting movie about Coolidge and some very interesting exhibits as well as docents who are helpful and informative. There is a small gift shop for souvenir hunters. This is a rare look in to the life of... 更多
We weren't aware of this place until coming up to Springfield VT to look at the fall colors. After watching the intro film and touring the various buildings we gained an appreciation of this man who became President unexpectedly. The buildings are well maintained and the surroundings are beautiful. Well recommended.
We were staying in nearby Killington, Vermont and decided to visit Calvin Coolidge's boyhood home in nearby Plymouth Notch. We didn't understand that we would be visiting an entire village, so we should have allotted more time for our visit. (We had only two hours, so we had to stop at 5:00). We started at the Visitors Center and paid... 更多
if at all interested in history, this is a great place to visit with informative guides, amongst the homestead of calvin coolidge, they also have a great cheese shop on the property
We made a stop at Plymouth Notch home of Calvin Coolidge and learned about silent Cal and the village that influenced him, including the working cheese factory. We took our time on the grounds and just enjoyed the fall foliage as had outstanding weather with full sun. Here again the people the make all that more fun to learn the... 更多
We went when the leaves were peaking on a beautifully sunny and temperate day. The setting of this historic site is gorgeous and still so very unspoiled. Vermont is a very special place in the Fall - everywhere, literally - so the drive to get there is absolutely worth it. The information center about Coolidge focuses mostly on his life... 更多
Our tour bus stopped here for two hours and it wasn't quite long enough. We strolled through the grounds made even more lovely with the fall foliage. It was interesting to walk inside the home where he was born and notice all the little details including the quilt that Calvin made when he was ten years old. The parlor where... 更多
Plenty to see. Start with the short film at the visitor's center. Then a leisurely stroll through the park. We saw it all and were glad we did. Tried to imagine what it was like when President Coolidge was growing up. The docent are very engaging informative. Don't skip past them.
