While the idea of a private island is great, we expected it to be clean. Instead the beach and the jetty going into the gulf was full of trash. Surprising that trash pickup does not occur on a more regular basis. We enjoyed going to end of the jetty and watching the waves crash.
Short, $12 trip across the channel. Had fun sitting in a chair watching the ocean and birds and crabs while the wife collected a nice variety of shells. A great afternoon. Found out the island is full of cattle, owned by the Bass family from Fort Worth. This is a very private island, so you can only stay on the... 更多
It is $12 round trip. Lots of fisherman come here, but we do beachcombing. There is 7 miles of beach and hardly anyone there. Get your tickets at Fishermans's Wharf. The Jetty boat starts going over at 6:30 in the morning and departs every hour until after noon then every 2 hours. It returns 10 minutes after the hour. We... 更多
Love this island. $12 return trip but be sure to get the last boat back or you are spending the night. Beautiful long beach to walk on. Fishing is great . Also good place to dolphin watch. Well worth spending 2 - 4 hours here.
After a 5 minute boat ride between the levees, you walk up the east levee for about 5 minutes until you reach the beach that faces the open Gulf of Mexico. You may walk for miles down this beach if you want to. The farther you go, the more pristine it becomes. The beach is littered with stuff that has... 更多
We jettied over on a Sat. Nice beach with clear water. It happened to be beach clean up for the fall. It was nice to see volunteers cleaning debris washing up on this undeveloped island. We strolled and swam. Its nice but had anticipated seeing more seashells. Buy your tixs at Fishermans Wharf starting at 630 am. Ferry departs on... 更多
FIVE minute boat ride, ten minute walk, NATURE!!! It was nice to go somewhere that automobiles could not go and see things in the sand & surf that very few have picked over!
Lovely in all aspects but reminds me of an actress who's most famous quote was. I vant to be alone. Everything is pristine and reminds you of being on a deserted island. We park our boat on the backside and walk to the beach but you can take the jetty boat also. Very worth the effort
this little island is perfect. The sand is very clean and my daughter had the best time finding almost perfect shells. Good quality type that you normally have to buy at the shops!
I love the island! It's so secluded and private. I look forward to the off seasons and beachcombing. But we go a couple of miles down and I can easily go topless with no worries of being an issue for the families that typically stop at around the one mile mark. I throughly enjoy the remote island feel.
