This is the highest point in this lovely town in Extremadura. There are 360 degree views across the plains to the distant mountains including a birds eye view of the medieval town below.
For castle lovers, this one is a real gem - it brings multiple architectural styles, layout, size and incredible views to the table. Go as late in the day as possible to catch the sundown.
Most people wouldn't attempt the drive up through the narrow lanes, but we did, during the day and again after dark! The reward was breathtaking. The age of the buildings; the stunning views. Well worth the climb.
Visited this most amazing place and completely blown away with the size, workmanship, views, atmosphere of this century old castle. Great to be able to walk around most of the site without hindrance or warning signs or barriers as they would have in Oz. Make sure you take some water with you, there are toilets on site
We walked to the castle in the evening because in the daytime it was quite hot. You can walk around and see great vieuws of surrouding and also a lot of storks. They are everwhere. Great place to see
It may seem that after climbing all the way up from Trujillo town that the castle hasn't got a lot going for it. But for a modest fee the castle has the most amazing views of the countryside around. You can also get to feel some of the atmosphere of the medieval times .
You may have seen better castles but the location and consequent views make up for everything. A must see if you are in the area and just one feature in a very lovely town.
