Route 66 is dotted with museums and the like so this one was a little different. Who knew a museum about barbed wire could be so interesting. Its well worth a stop and a look, it also has lots of route 66 stuff in.

While we did spend the night in McClean at the Cactus Inn we were aware of the barbed wire museum from the Billy Connolly TV series. It did not disappoint. Much larger than we expected and had lots of Route 66 memorabilia in addition to the barbed wire and ranch history. Well worth the donation we chose to make.
This museum looks small on the outside, but it spreads and spreads once you're inside. Since I collect old fencing tools, I had wanted to visit the museum. Was not disappointed, they have about every thing you could have in the way of old fencing tools.
We were just looking for a place to stop and stretch our legs on our Route 66 trip. This seemed like a good idea.
