This courthouse is located in the city center of Marfa. It's usually closed on the weekends, but it is very pretty and a unique center of attraction in the middle of town. Stop by and check it out if you're in town.
The wife and I are always looking for these historical courhouses. We visitied this one and the one in Fort Davis today. Both were great and we love the architecture of these old courthous.
Definitely worth seeing AND climbing all the way to the top of the dome. It is only 86 steps and offers quite an expansive view of the area. the building is lovely as are the furnishings.
It is a beautiful stone work of art, worth a stroll around. Go inside and take the elevator to the 3rd floor, then climb the last 2 floors for a great view of Marfa spreading out for 6 blocks all around you. :)
We walked up and down the courthouse, magnificent building made out of wood which are in good condition and well maintain. The people who work there very friendly and if you asked a question they answer with great pride. Architecturally stunning. It is a gem in that area and a must to see and visit.
Stopped for a break as we drove through Marfa. Enjoyed walking the Courthouse lawn. There's several beautiful churches and old buildings to see.
The courthouse is beautiful from the outside, but do yourself a favor and check out the interior. The courtroom on the second floor could be a movie set -- it's spectacular. The staircases are stunning and the view from the top is worth the walk up.
Kudos to the citizens of Marfa for restoring & preserving this grand old building. Beautiful place for justice to happen. Glad we went on a day when the building was open to the top for touring. I'm sure there are many tales to be told from inside this beautiful building.
It's the centerpiece of Marfa, right downtown, and a great example of Midwestern municipal architecture. Beautiful all through the day and especially at night.
