This park is a shame -- one would have expected that Buddy would have gotten more than a short metallic statue in what looks like a urban renewal plot. So, go up a block or two and see the huge pair of glasses like he wore -- it'll be much more emblematic.
A must see addition to the Buddy Holly Museum as it's just across the street. It's a great review of famous Texans through the years. The statue is a perfect photo opportunity as well!
Did this short walk on way out of town. Interesting to see all the highly recognizable names on the wall On the way in or out of park be sure to look for the tree dedicated to Sir Paul McCartney. The train station across the street is also worth a look.
This was pretty interesting to see. Lots of names to see and find. Not the greatest site but fun. Doesn't take long at all so be prepared to have other things to do while in the area. It's free though so that's always good.
Was completely surprised by what we found at this location besides a bigger than life statue of Buddy Holly, the memorial wall contained plaques for all member of the West Texas Music Hall of fame. What a great history lesson for a music fan, lots of big names on this display. Still a work in progress, but worth finding.
With the title of this review out of the way, moving the statue to this location was VERY smart. It's too bad that it took so long to build this monument to Buddy Holly, but it took that long for his widow to shake down the City/County by forcing them to pay her to honor one of Lubbock's favorite sons.... 更多
