We had lunch at Black's and went on a walk around the square in Lockhart. We ended up at the jail, and spent the couple of bucks to take the tour. I took my grandson to see the "Jail Museum" a few years ago....He enjoyed the visit and we took a couple of pictures so he could share his experience with classmates. It was good visit that we both enjoyed.
The brick work is amazing. A must see if you are near. The downtown square is charming and be sure to see the library while you are there.
This old jailhouse was built at the turn of the century and is typical for the era. Solidly brick built with steel bars and cage cells. Not many windows, dark and claustrophobic sums it up. This place is just fantastic! Don't inside until you walk all around and look at the architecture. This is what going to jail was all about!
This place rocks. It's scary in the middle of a sunny day. They need to advertise more. It's the most fascinating place to walk through. There haven't been any improvements to speak of in years. It's creepy and fun to walk through.
A very sweet lady gave us a brief history of the Jail and then we were able to walk around and check out the small exhibits offered on the floor level. You then are shown upstairs and are able to self guide yourself around to the very top. A $2 entrance fee at the door and they will take check... 更多
