We visited while 6 o clock mass, it was semi-full , yet very lovely. I loved the cathedral windows and walked into the back small room where the had "El santisimo" under a Guadalupe Virgin picture . The San Agustin Catholic Cathedral is beautiful and cherished by locals, but welcomes visitors. It is the perfect setting for joyous celebrations such as weddings and baptisms and for somber observances such as memorials and funeral masses.
The cathedral is part of Laredo's historical buildings. Across the street from Republic of the Rio Grande Museum. Laredo was under seven flags.
We assisted to a yearly mass celebrating the Holy Family and the attention of Monsignior Tamayo to the attending faithful is second to none! Highly recommend him for his clear and concise homilies! Like he says: 'todo con Amor' ( do everything with love)!
A native of Laredo, I attended this church for 12 years as I went to the school adjacent to it. It has all the luster of time gone by. It is just as beautiful as when I was a little girl in the 50's.
