This is a fun summer place to go and play in the cool flowing water, sand and granite rocks. Great place to enjoy the outdoors and spend the day with friends or family. The only negative is the inconsiderate slobs that leave their trash behind.
The first time I went to the Slab, the water was rushing over it so fast it was impossible to drive through! There were cars every where and the place was packed!
A month later, the road was again open to traffic, parking is along side where ever a spot can be found.

The slab is a great place to hike around and explore the many rock formations and colors along with the different pools/streams of water. It's best to get there early especially if you have small children. It's cooler and much calmer(less people)at that time. There is a small trail on the east side of the slab that you can hike...
We recently took our grandkids to the Slab even though we've lived in the area for over 8 years. They LOVED it! Bring your lawn chairs and cooler and you're good to go. Granted it's a FREE visit and sometimes that brings a variety of folks but they is plenty of places to park and wade. Just a fun afternoon.
