Tall oak trees, luscious vegetation. We live in Houston- so its more like camping in your back yard Camping was decent but not "special". My biggest complaint- was that camp spots were on a the park's main busy street- my kids had a hard time riding bikes because of my fear of them getting ran over by fast truck driving... 更多
One of the nicest places I saw while visiting Texas. Lots to see in the park that we wish we could have enjoyed. The Lodge is gorgeous with beautiful views, including boaters and alligators. The Lodge was great for a small family wedding (side note, could benefit from dimmer switches on the lighting). Beautiful place!
I have lived in the Huntsville area since 1976. It never amazes me what a beautiful place this is to go hiking around, swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Great areas for daily picnics and overnight camping. They also have a pavilion that you can rent that is great for parties and weddings. Just love to go there once a week to... 更多
Went here for an afternoon walk as the weather was nice. The car parks were very busy and there were a lot of people enjoying the sunshine. Although it was busy there it was still very quiet and peaceful, I was surprised how quiet. Some people were fishing others having a bbq. We enjoyed the trails as did others. It... 更多
Being that I am a TPWD employee, I am biased. The staff was so welcoming, the facilities were beautiful and kayaking on the lake was incredibly fun.
Best woodland birdwatching close to Houston. Unfortunately, so close to Houston that most of Houston goes to it. 20 years ago, when Houston was half its current size, this place was outstanding. Quiet, even on a weekend. Now you pretty much have to hike way back into the woods to get close to nature and lose the feeling of a... 更多
My son and I were in Huntsville and remembered how beautiful the state park was in our previous short visit. So we spent Saturday night at Huntsville state park. We had no reservation and the ladies at the check in office helped us nicely. We rented a screened shelter (which had electricity and water) so it felt more like a... 更多
First and foremost this park is beautiful ! OK now here is the down and dirty as one would say. GOOD: scenery, trails maintained, little to no-foot traffic on the trails, very clean park, NO large dangerous wildlife "bears, mountain lions, and rattle snakes", family or large group friendly BAD: humidity, mosquitoes, fee to enter the park, sandy trails, roots... 更多
Plenty of shade at the trails. Some of the trails were closed due to construction; however, you're able to get around. Although we only walked one trail, we will definitely return on a next visit. I recommend an annual pass for $70 if you intend to continue visiting State Parks in Texas. It's a great deal. Park restroom was very... 更多
Huntsville state park has a lot of hiking trails good for beginner to advanced hikers. Nice place to go for a feeling of being out in the woods.
