I never knew about this place and had been to Glen Rose a couple of times. My brother-in-law clued me in, and I'm glad he did. These are just amazing huge rocks along the Paluxy river worth the stop and climb like the kids do. Or enjoy just watching the river from top of the rocks.
Even if you just do a quick drive-by, go see Big Rocks and ponder how in the world something that big ended up right there. Fun for kids to traverse and a good swimming hole in the warmer months.
I love taking my dogs down to Big Rocks. Unfortunately during summer, the place is crowded. Once the tourist are gone, the place is beautiful!
The size of the rocks is amazing -- fun to clamber over and around. My grandchildren and I loved wading in the clear, cool stream. There is an ominous posted warning about dangerous amoeba in the water, so we cleaned our hands and feet thoroughly. afterwords.
Enjoyed our visit at this neat little park. The park is very well kept with clean restrooms. Whether you want to climb around on the big rocks or cool your feet in the river, stop by to see a different side of nature. Fun, free thing to do in Glen Rose.
Late on Saturday afternoon, driving to the east out of Glen Rose, TX we stumbled by Big Rock park. We stopped and did a survey of the park and my daughter thought it was fun to climb on the rocks, as did I. There were other families enjoying this also. This was a peaceful, beautiful place. Water was mostly shallow, so even toddlers could enjoy it. It would be nice if there were a few options for grilling some burgers.
